During our UX group project, we found several issues on Sprinkles Cupcakes’ website. Therefore, Sprinkles is a great candidate for WordPress because it can address these key issues while offering flexibility and ease of use. One major challenge is the delivery date selection process, where customers often choose unavailable dates at checkout. WordPress can resolve this by allowing customers to select only available dates earlier in the process, dimming unavailable options for clarity and preventing confusion. Another issue is with “Coming Soon” items, which are still clickable and confusing. Currently, hovering over a cupcake doesn’t enlarge the image, which could improve the customer experience. WordPress can easily integrate a hover feature to provide a better view of the product, helping customers make more informed decisions.
Additionally, the checkout process could be smoother. WordPress allows for a more intuitive flow and offers the option to integrate live chat, which would provide real-time customer support and improve overall satisfaction. WordPress’s customizability, ease of management, and scalability make it the ideal solution for Sprinkles Cupcakes to resolve these issues and enhance the overall shopping experience.
Awash Restaurant serves delicious, authentic Ethiopian food and has built a strong reputation with its customers, but unfortunately, its current website doesn’t reflect that quality. The design is outdated, poorly structured, and not optimized for mobile users, making it unsuitable for showcasing the restaurant’s true value. For a restaurant with such great reviews and a loyal customer base, the website should be welcoming, visually rich, and easy to navigate. A modern WordPress website would solve these issues by offering a clean, responsive design; high-quality photo galleries; interactive menus; and online reservation features.
Additionally, adding descriptions to clickable images can significantly enhance the user experience. Currently, the site lacks detailed information when users click on images while browsing menus. Using WordPress, these images can be enhanced with pop-up modals that provide more context about the products or dishes. This allows customers to make informed decisions without navigating away from the page. WordPress enables easy embedding of these descriptions through plugins making the website more user-friendly, engaging, and informative. The new website would ensure that Awash stands out online, drawing more traffic, increasing reservations, and reflecting the same high standards as the restaurant’s food and atmosphere. In short, the current site is not doing justice to what Awash offers, and moving to WordPress would be a major step forward in aligning the restaurant’s digital presence with the quality of its dining experience.
Rahel Ethiopian Vegan Cuisine, established in 1985, could benefit from an updated website. The current site feels cluttered and lacks a modern, user-friendly design that would improve the customer experience. Rahel Ethiopian Vegan Cuisine is a vendor for many stores, including Whole Foods in the Los Angeles area, Erewhon Natural Foods Market at The Grove, and several other local specialty food stores. However, the website is outdated and doesn’t reflect the current nature of the business. Switching to WordPress would make the website cleaner and easier to navigate. WordPress customizable themes that would professionally showcase the menu and dishes. The restaurant would be able to easily update the menu and post events without needing technical skills. WordPress also allows for features like online ordering and reservation systems. This would make it easier for customers to place orders or book tables directly from the site. Updating the social media icons to reflect the new X branding (formerly Twitter) is easy with WordPress. This update would ensure that the website stays current and maintains consistency with modern social media platforms.
The site is not fully mobile-responsive, causing issues like horizontal scrolling, small text, and lack of a hamburger icon for easy navigation. Improving mobile responsiveness and adding SEO tools would enhance user experience, boost visibility on search engines, and drive more traffic and customers. Ideally, redesigning the entire page would be the best option to ensure a seamless experience across all devices.
